Ritual & Priming (5 Minutes):
Review (5 minutes): Tribal Values by mixing them up (for 2nd -5th grades). No mixing up (for K/1 no mixing)

Closing Ritual (2 minutes): Before closing, end with the Haat Yee Aadéi song as review and positive ending with successful learning.
- Music Teacher plays Haa Ḵusteeyí Chorus with Gestures and Images in the background (play at least several times) as students enter Zoom. Ask students to copy gestures modeled by the cultural specialist. Acknowledge students who are gesturing and helping others. Lesson 3 Powerpoint is ready to go.
- (For Grades K-3, we started with Haat Yee Aadéi by dancing to it and then moved to the Haa Ḵusteeyí chorus).

Hook for New Tribal Value: Oral Narrative: Raven Makes the Aleutians (5-7 minutes):
- Before reading the story, ask students why itʼs important not to be in a hurry? Can you think of times when you were in a hurry? What happened? In this story, why does Raven have to practice patience?
- Tlél sh yáa yeeydawóodliḵ (Donʼt be in a hurry - the next tribal value listed under Kindergarten).
- Remind students that they can finger knit or roll yarn bundles while listening to this picture book.
- After reading Raven Makes the Aleutian Island, model how the Haa Ḵusteeyí journals are to be used.
- Demonstrate the tribal value: tlél sh yáa yeeydawóodliḵ by modeling each step as you sing the tribal value:
- Trace the pattern with your finger matching the high tones of the tribal value with the crest of each wave.
- Show students on the website where they can continue on with Step 2 (Lightly Sketching) and Step 3 (Make Permanent) once they completed Step 1. All three steps require them to continue singing, tlél sh yáa yeeydawóodliḵ
Introduce Language Practice Game (5 minutes): Jeopardy Game - Tribal Values and Voiceless "L" (for 45-minute classes only)
- To encourage speaking the language, students can double, triple, even quadruple their money by:
- saying "Yáadu x̱at" when called upon
- making the gesture that accompanies the vocabulary word
- pronouncing the word in Lingít
- pronouncing the word in Lingit with high tones
- Consider placing students in breakout rooms to review the list of vocabulary words for 2 minutes before playing the game
Questions, Comments and Connections (3 minutes):
- Ask the students if they have anything that theyʼd like to share with the group as way to connect, reflect and build relationships.
