Tribal Values Across the Grade Levels
The table below outlines how the Southeast Alaska Tribal Values lessons could be introduced and taught as part of an elementary general music class. In Juneau, elementary music teachers see every class once a week for 45 minutes each. For classroom teachers, these lessons could be taught within a school year and in any sequence with two exceptions: Lesson 1 (Tlingít Music: Purpose) & Lesson 2 (Core Tribal Values) form the foundation of the unit and should be taught first.
