Word(s) of the Week:

 Many classroom teachers are taking Lingít I through UAS. One of them, Kim Frangos, suggested that we start a Lingít Word of the Week for teachers to integrate into their lessons! The hope is that if we use these words throughout the week, both students and teachers will become more comfortable and confident using them.
Week 1:
  • Sitʼ Eetí Shaanáx̱: Glacier Valley
  • Dziyáagin: later (slang for goodbye)

Week 3: Greeting (recording for all three)
  • Wáasá iyatee?: How are you?
  • X̱at Yakʼéi: Iʼm fine/good.
  • Tlél wáasá: Iʼm okay.
  • Song to support: Wáasá iyatee?

Week 5: Honoring Kingeisti (David Katzeek)
  • Haa tóo yéi yatee: “It is in us."
  • Lingít áwé wa.é: "You are a human being."

Week 7: Stand Up (you all)/ Sit Down (you all) with Song
  • Gaydanaaḵ - Stand up
  • G̱ayḵí - Sit down
Week 2: Voiceless "L"
  • Likoodzí: amazing
  • Gunalchéesh: thank you or "you made it possible"
Week 4: Numbers 1- 10
  • Tléixʼ = 1
  • Deix̱ = 2
  • Nasʼk = 3
  • Daaxʼoon = 4
  • Keijín = 5

  • Tleidooshú = 6
  • Dax̱adooshú = 7
  • Nasʼgadooshú = 8
  • Gooshúḵ = 9
  • Jinkaat = 10
Week 6: Thanksgiving Week
  • Sh too g̱aa x̱hát sitee: "I am thankful.

Week 8: Tsú yéi ikḵwasitéeni (I will see you again soon)
  • tsú - again
  • ikḵw - refers to a future tense (going to)
  • sitéen - to see
  • i - you
